KARACHI: Dewan Textile Mills Limited reported a narrower net loss for the nine months ended March 31, 2026, reflecting an improvement in its financial performance despite ongoing operational and financing challenges. The company announced its unaudited financial results following a meeting of its Board of Directors held on April 27, 2026.

According to the financial statements, the company posted a net loss of Rs83.08 million during the July–March FY2026 period, compared with a loss of Rs93.34 million recorded in the corresponding period last year. This represents an improvement of nearly 11% year-on-year. Loss per share also improved to Rs1.80, compared with Rs2.03 in the same period of FY2025.

For the third quarter alone, Dewan Textile Mills reported a net loss of Rs28.10 million, improving from Rs31.20 million recorded in the same quarter last year. Quarterly loss per share stood at Rs0.61, compared with Rs0.68 a year earlier.

The company continued to face the absence of operating revenue during the period. However, lower cost of sales and higher other income helped reduce losses. Other income increased to Rs15.53 million during the nine-month period from Rs14.82 million a year earlier, providing some support to the bottom line. Finance costs, however, rose to Rs22.38 million, highlighting the continued burden of financing obligations.

On the balance sheet, Dewan Textile Mills reported accumulated losses of over Rs6.36 billion as of March 31, 2026, while total equity remained negative at approximately Rs2.95 billion, underscoring the company’s long-standing financial difficulties. Cash and bank balances stood at Rs3.37 million at the end of the reporting period.

The Board of Directors did not recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares, or any other corporate action for the period under review.

Despite remaining in a loss-making position, the improvement in earnings compared with the previous year suggests that Dewan Textile Mills has made modest progress in reducing losses. Sustained operational improvements and restructuring efforts will remain critical for the company to restore financial stability and strengthen its long-term outlook.
