Soneri Bank Limited has announced a strategic move to diversify its business operations by approving the establishment of a wholly owned Asset Management Company (AMC). The decision was taken during the bank’s 216th Board of Directors meeting held on April 27, 2026, and has been disclosed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) as material information.
According to the disclosure, the proposed Asset Management Company will be incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Soneri Bank. The initiative is aimed at expanding the bank’s presence in Pakistan’s financial services sector by offering asset management and investment solutions alongside its traditional banking operations.
To support the new venture, Soneri Bank will invest an initial paid-up capital of PKR 1 billion, which will be fully subscribed by the bank. The investment is intended to meet the regulatory capital requirements set by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for asset management companies.
The bank clarified that the establishment of the AMC remains subject to obtaining all necessary approvals, licenses, and regulatory clearances from the SECP and other relevant authorities. Once these approvals are secured, the company will commence operations as a wholly owned subsidiary of Soneri Bank.
The management noted that further developments regarding the incorporation process and regulatory approvals will be communicated to the Pakistan Stock Exchange as and when material progress is made.
The planned expansion reflects Soneri Bank’s broader strategy to diversify its revenue streams and strengthen its footprint in Pakistan’s growing investment management industry. By entering the asset management business, the bank aims to capitalize on increasing investor demand for professionally managed investment products while enhancing long-term shareholder value.
