KARACHI – Lucky Cement Limited has successfully completed and commissioned a major Process Optimization and Capacity Enhancement Project at its Karachi plant, marking another milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy. The development is expected to significantly improve production efficiency while strengthening the company’s position as Pakistan’s largest cement manufacturer.
According to the company’s material information shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the project involved the optimization and modernization of existing cement production lines. As a result, the annual production capacity of the Karachi plant has increased by approximately 300,000 tons, rising from 5.05 million tons to 5.35 million tons. This expansion takes Lucky Cement’s total annual cement production capacity to 15.6 million tons.
Beyond the increase in production capacity, the company highlighted that the project is designed to improve operational performance and sustainability. The upgraded facilities are expected to enhance thermal efficiency, reduce specific fuel consumption, and lower coal usage per ton of cement produced. These improvements will also contribute to reducing the carbon intensity of the company’s operations by enabling more efficient utilization of resources.
Lucky Cement stated that the investment reflects its continued commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth. The company believes the initiative aligns with its long-term objective of adopting advanced manufacturing technologies, creating greater value for shareholders, and supporting Pakistan’s industrial development and sustainability goals.
The successful completion of the project reinforces Lucky Cement’s leadership in Pakistan’s cement industry and underscores its focus on expanding capacity while improving environmental performance and operational efficiency.
