Kohat Cement Company Limited (KOHC) reported a profit after taxation of Rs7.41 billion for the nine months ended March 31, 2026, compared with Rs9.22 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the company’s unaudited financial results.
The results show that the company’s profitability remained under pressure despite broadly stable sales during the period. Net sales increased marginally to Rs28.90 billion during the nine-month period, compared with Rs28.82 billion a year earlier. However, gross profit declined to Rs9.72 billion from Rs12.00 billion, reflecting higher costs and weaker margins.
As a result, operating profit fell to Rs8.29 billion from Rs10.51 billion in the same period last year. The company reported other income of Rs3.24 billion, while finance costs stood at Rs117.87 million. Profit before taxation amounted to Rs11.38 billion, compared with Rs14.19 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
After accounting for taxation of Rs3.97 billion, Kohat Cement posted a profit after taxation of Rs7.41 billion, down approximately 19.6% year-on-year. Earnings per share also declined to Rs8.06 from Rs9.42.
Third-Quarter Performance
The company’s performance in the January-March 2026 quarter also reflected pressure on profitability. Net sales remained almost unchanged at Rs8.16 billion compared with Rs8.15 billion in the same quarter last year.
However, gross profit fell to Rs2.84 billion from Rs3.22 billion, while operating profit declined to Rs2.33 billion from Rs2.77 billion. Profit after taxation stood at Rs1.87 billion, compared with Rs2.34 billion a year earlier, representing a decline of nearly 20%. Quarterly earnings per share decreased to Rs2.03 from Rs2.39.
The financial statements indicate that the decline in profitability was driven primarily by pressure on gross and operating margins rather than a significant deterioration in sales. The company’s cost of sales during the nine-month period increased to Rs19.19 billion from Rs16.81 billion a year earlier, contributing to the reduction in gross profit.
Kohat Cement’s consolidated financial statements also showed a similar trend, with consolidated profit after taxation for the nine-month period standing at approximately Rs7.41 billion. The consolidated results reported earnings per share of Rs8.06.
Overall, Kohat Cement maintained its sales level during the nine months ended March 31, 2026, but higher costs weighed on profitability. With profit after tax declining by nearly one-fifth and earnings per share falling to Rs8.06, the company’s latest results highlight the continued impact of cost pressures on margins.
