Karachi, August 21, 2026: The Alfalah Consumer Index Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) ended the financial year June 30, 2026, with a stronger asset base and a higher net asset value per unit, although its annual income declined compared with the previous year.
According to the financial results approved by the Board of Directors of Alfalah Asset Management Limited on August 21, 2026, the fund’s net assets increased to Rs85.01 million, compared with Rs64.61 million a year earlier. The fund’s net asset value (NAV) per unit also rose to Rs18.24 from Rs15.38, marking a notable improvement during the year.
Investments remain the key asset
The fund reported total assets of Rs86.43 million at June 30, 2026, up from Rs68.91 million in the previous year. Investments accounted for the bulk of the asset base, rising to Rs80.88 million from Rs64.27 million.
Bank balances also increased to Rs4.83 million from Rs2.94 million, while advances, deposits and other receivables stood at Rs604,117. Total liabilities declined sharply to Rs1.42 million from Rs4.30 million, supporting the increase in net assets.
Annual income falls from previous year
Despite the improvement in assets and NAV, the fund’s income performance was weaker than in 2025.
Total income for the year stood at Rs15.42 million, compared with Rs23.79 million in the previous year. The decline was largely associated with lower gains from investments.
The fund earned Rs1.82 million in dividend income, compared with Rs1.86 million a year earlier. Net gain on sale of investments fell to Rs4.00 million from Rs6.19 million, while unrealized appreciation on investments declined to Rs9.29 million from Rs15.58 million.
Expenses, meanwhile, increased to Rs2.01 million from Rs1.21 million. Major expenses included auditor remuneration, management company remuneration, trustee charges, regulatory fees and other operating costs. As a result, net income after taxation declined to Rs14.07 million, compared with Rs24.29 million in 2025.
Stronger unit-holder base
The fund also experienced increased activity in its units during the year.
A total of 1.88 million units were issued, generating proceeds of Rs33.31 million. At the same time, 1.42 million units were redeemed, involving payments of Rs25.59 million. The number of units in issue consequently increased to 4.66 million, compared with 4.20 million at the end of the previous year.
The movement in unit-holder funds shows that the fund closed the year with capital value of Rs58.87 million and undistributed income of Rs26.13 million, taking total net assets to Rs85.01 million.
Fund distributes Rs0.16 per unit
The fund made a distribution of Rs0.16 per unit on June 29, 2026, resulting in total distributions of Rs745,600 for the year. This compares with a distribution of Rs0.60 per unit, or Rs2.53 million in total, for the previous year.
Accounting income available for distribution during the year amounted to Rs14.07 million, including Rs13.28 million related to capital gains and Rs783,926 excluding capital gains.
Cash position improves
The fund generated Rs5.20 million in net cash from financing activities, primarily reflecting proceeds from the issuance of units after accounting for redemptions and dividend payments.
Overall cash and cash equivalents increased by Rs1.89 million during the year, reaching Rs4.83 million at June 30, 2026, compared with Rs2.94 million a year earlier.
The results present a mixed picture for the Alfalah Consumer Index ETF. While investment income and overall profitability declined from the previous year, the fund expanded its asset base, attracted more units into circulation and lifted its NAV per unit from Rs15.38 to Rs18.24. The figures indicate that the fund entered the new financial year with a substantially larger net asset base and a stronger NAV position.
