Adamjee Life Assurance Company Limited has reported a profit after tax of Rs 427.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, while maintaining a stable overall financial position and strengthening its equity base.
According to the company’s condensed interim financial statements, the results reflect continued activity across its insurance, takaful and investment operations during the first half of the year. The financial statements are marked as unaudited.
Profit remains positive despite year-on-year decline
Adamjee Life recorded profit after tax of Rs 427.2 million for the half year ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 580.0 million in the corresponding period of 2025. This represents a decline of roughly 26 percent year on year.
The company’s total comprehensive income stood at Rs 498.7 million during the period, compared with Rs 566.9 million a year earlier. Other comprehensive income contributed Rs 71.5 million, primarily reflecting changes in the valuation of investments, net of related tax effects.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, profit after tax was Rs 336.0 million, compared with Rs 457.1 million in the same quarter of 2025. The quarterly results therefore show that the company continued to remain profitable despite a softer year-on-year performance.
Balance sheet remains broadly stable
The company reported total assets of approximately Rs 134.66 billion as of June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 134.59 billion at the end of December 2025. The relatively small movement indicates that the overall size of the balance sheet remained broadly stable during the first six months of the year.
Investments continued to represent a major component of the company’s assets. Government securities stood at approximately Rs 84.65 billion, while equity securities were reported at about Rs 15.22 billion. The company also held around Rs 9.54 billion in open-ended mutual funds.
Cash and bank balances increased significantly, reaching approximately Rs 15.09 billion at June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 6.41 billion at December 31, 2025.
Equity position strengthens
Adamjee Life’s total equity increased to approximately Rs 6.44 billion by the end of June 2026, compared with Rs 6.33 billion at the end of 2025.
The company reported ordinary share capital of Rs 2.625 billion, while unappropriated profit stood at Rs 1.259 billion. The surplus on revaluation of available-for-sale investments increased to Rs 175.6 million from Rs 104.1 million at the end of December 2025.
The statement of changes in equity also shows that the company recorded an interim dividend of Rs 1.5 per share, equivalent to 15 percent, amounting to Rs 393.75 million during the period.
Investment activity remains significant
The cash flow statement highlights the importance of investment operations to the company’s financial activities. During the six-month period, proceeds from investments amounted to approximately Rs 224.8 billion, while payments for investments were around Rs 215.0 billion.
The company generated approximately Rs 15.88 billion in net cash from investing activities. At the same time, operating activities used net cash of approximately Rs 6.71 billion, while financing activities resulted in a net cash outflow of about Rs 487.2 million.
Despite these movements, cash and cash equivalents increased from approximately Rs 6.41 billion at the beginning of the period to Rs 15.09 billion at June 30, 2026.
A mixed but resilient first half
Adamjee Life’s first-half performance presents a mixed picture. Profit after tax declined compared with the previous year, but the company remained profitable and recorded positive comprehensive income. Its total assets stayed largely unchanged, while shareholders’ equity increased.
The rise in cash and bank balances and the continued substantial investment portfolio also underline the company’s strong financial resources. Meanwhile, the payment of an interim dividend demonstrates that the company continued to return value to shareholders during the period.
Overall, the June 2026 interim results show a company maintaining a sizeable balance sheet and positive profitability while navigating changes in investment valuations, insurance operations and broader financial conditions. Investors and stakeholders will likely watch the company’s second-half performance closely to see whether earnings momentum improves during the remainder of 2026.
