Ansari Sugar Mills Limited has announced its financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reporting a wider quarterly loss while deciding not to recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares, or rights issue for shareholders. The company’s Board of Directors approved the financial statements during its meeting held on July 27, 2026.
According to the unaudited financial statements, the company posted a net loss after tax of Rs129.25 million for the quarter, compared with a loss of Rs66.96 million recorded in the corresponding period last year. This translated into a loss per share (LPS) of Rs2.30, compared with an LPS of Rs1.19 a year earlier.
The deterioration in profitability came despite the company reporting other income of Rs6.83 million during the quarter. Finance costs remained a significant burden, amounting to Rs119.67 million, contributing heavily to the pre-tax loss. The company also incurred administrative and selling expenses, further weighing on its financial performance.
For the nine-month period ended June 30, 2026, Ansari Sugar Mills reported a net loss of Rs80.23 million, substantially higher than the Rs10.14 million loss recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year. Sales for the nine-month period stood at Rs693.95 million, while gross profit amounted to Rs153.65 million.
On the balance sheet, the company’s total assets were reported at approximately Rs14.50 billion as of June 30, 2026, compared with Rs14.63 billion at the end of September 2025. Shareholders’ equity declined to Rs2.59 billion, reflecting the impact of accumulated losses during the reporting period.
The Board announced no cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares, or any other corporate entitlement alongside the financial results, indicating a cautious approach as the company continues to navigate financial challenges.
Ansari Sugar Mills’ latest results highlight the continued pressure on earnings from financing costs and operational challenges, underscoring the difficult environment facing Pakistan’s sugar industry despite efforts to manage operating performance.
