KARACHI: Dewan Sugar Mills Limited has reported a reduced net loss for the nine months ended June 30, 2026, as the company managed to trim operating losses despite a decline in sales, according to its latest financial results submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The company posted a net loss after tax of Rs683.04 million during the nine-month period, improving from a loss of Rs714.84 million recorded in the corresponding period last year. Loss per share also improved to Rs7.46, compared with Rs7.81 a year earlier.

Net sales stood at Rs1.247 billion, slightly lower than Rs1.276 billion in the same period of the previous year. Despite the decline in revenue, Dewan Sugar Mills reduced its gross loss to Rs657.40 million from Rs662.05 million, reflecting better cost management during the reporting period.

The company’s loss from operations narrowed to Rs696.33 million, compared with Rs741.80 million last year. Administrative expenses fell significantly to Rs37.81 million from Rs56.19 million, while distribution and selling expenses declined sharply to Rs1.48 million from Rs23.24 million, helping improve overall operating performance.

For the third quarter alone, Dewan Sugar Mills reported a net loss of Rs112.97 million, an improvement over the Rs123.89 million loss recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. Quarterly loss per share improved to Rs1.23 from Rs1.35.

On the balance sheet, the company reported total assets of Rs7.69 billion as of June 30, 2026, compared with Rs7.94 billion at the end of September 2025. However, accumulated losses continued to weigh on shareholders’ equity, which remained in a negative position.

Dewan Sugar Mills generated positive operating cash flows of Rs37.13 million during the nine-month period, although this was lower than Rs65.59 million generated in the corresponding period last year. Cash and bank balances stood at Rs10.93 million at the end of June 2026.

The Board of Directors did not recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares, or any other corporate entitlement for the period under review.
