Fast Cables Limited has approved its participation in a consortium seeking to acquire Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) through the government’s ongoing privatization process.

Fast Cables Limited has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that it has obtained the Request for Statement of Qualification (RSOQ) issued by the Privatization Commission for the proposed divestment of GEPCO through privatization.

According to the company’s material information disclosure dated August 24, 2026, the board of directors has approved Fast Cables’ participation in a consortium comprising Fast Cables Limited, AKD Securities Limited, AJCL (Private) Limited, and Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited.

The consortium members have designated AKD Securities Limited as the Lead Consortium Member. The lead member has been authorized to represent the consortium and conduct business related to the privatization process on behalf of Fast Cables and the other participating members.

However, Fast Cables clarified that its participation does not yet constitute a binding commitment to the proposed transaction. The process remains subject to pre-qualification by the Privatization Commission as well as all required corporate and regulatory approvals.

The disclosure indicates that the consortium is currently at the qualification and evaluation stage rather than having completed an acquisition. Fast Cables said it would keep the Pakistan Stock Exchange informed of any material developments concerning the transaction.

The move places Fast Cables among the companies showing interest in Pakistan’s privatization drive and could represent a potential expansion of its business interests beyond its core cables, electrical and related products operations.

For investors, the key point is that the proposed GEPCO transaction remains conditional. Any eventual acquisition would depend on the consortium successfully completing the pre-qualification process and obtaining the necessary approvals.
