JS Investments Limited has reported a decline in profitability for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, despite recording growth in its overall income. According to the company’s financial results, profit after taxation fell to Rs. 210.56 million from Rs. 369.93 million in the corresponding period last year.
The results were presented following a Board of Directors meeting held on October 21, 2026, where the financial statements for the period were reviewed.
Revenue Increases During the Nine-Month Period
JS Investments reported total income of approximately Rs. 1.04 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs. 817.13 million in the same period of 2025. The increase reflects stronger income from key sources, including remuneration from funds under management and returns on debt securities.
Net remuneration from funds under management reached Rs. 873.12 million, up from Rs. 794.74 million in the corresponding period last year. The company also reported Rs. 31.53 million in returns on debt securities, compared with Rs. 12.48 million previously.
However, higher income did not translate into stronger earnings, as the company faced increased administrative and other operating expenses.
Operating Profit Records Moderate Growth
The company’s operating profit increased to Rs. 254.03 million during the nine-month period, compared with Rs. 227.63 million in the same period of 2025. Despite this improvement, the overall profit before taxation declined significantly.
Profit before income and minimum taxes stood at Rs. 198.54 million, down from Rs. 529.53 million a year earlier. The decline was influenced by higher administrative expenses, which rose to Rs. 656.83 million from Rs. 476.18 million, as well as a substantially lower share of profit from associates.
Finance costs, meanwhile, decreased to Rs. 26.51 million from Rs. 91.00 million, providing some relief to the company’s expenses.
Third-Quarter Earnings Fall Sharply
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, JS Investments recorded profit after taxation of Rs. 31.04 million, compared with Rs. 186.38 million in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
Quarterly income reached Rs. 237.32 million, down from Rs. 271.57 million a year earlier. The company’s earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter declined to Rs. 0.50 from Rs. 3.02.
For the nine-month period, EPS stood at Rs. 3.42, compared with Rs. 6.00 in the corresponding period last year.
Balance Sheet Remains Supported by Equity
As of September 30, 2026, JS Investments reported total assets of Rs. 3.33 billion, compared with Rs. 3.36 billion at the end of 2025. Total equity and reserves increased to Rs. 2.81 billion from Rs. 2.59 billion.
The company’s unappropriated profit rose to Rs. 2.19 billion from Rs. 1.98 billion at the end of December 2025. Meanwhile, total liabilities declined to Rs. 522.94 million from Rs. 766.02 million, indicating a reduction in the company’s reported liability position.
Cash and bank balances increased to Rs. 38.24 million from Rs. 12.70 million at the end of the previous year.
No Dividend or Bonus Shares Announced
The Board of Directors did not recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares or right shares for the period. The company also reported no other entitlement or corporate action and no price-sensitive information in the announcement.
Outlook
JS Investments’ latest financial results present a mixed picture. Although the company recorded higher income and operating profit during the nine-month period, its lower profit after taxation and earnings per share highlight the pressure on overall profitability.
Investors will likely monitor the company’s expense management, returns from its investment activities and contribution from associates in the coming quarters to assess whether earnings can recover.
The company’s financial performance in the remaining months of the year will be important in determining whether revenue growth can translate into stronger bottom-line results.
