Kohinoor Mills Completes 10.2 MW Solar Energy Expansion to Reduce Power Costs
Kohinoor Mills Limited has successfully completed the commissioning of an additional 3.0-megawatt (MW) renewable energy system, bringing the total solar energy generation capacity at its manufacturing facility to 10.2 MW. The company disclosed this development in a material information notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on October 13, 2026.
The expansion marks another step in the company’s efforts to increase its reliance on renewable energy and improve operational efficiency. With the additional capacity now commissioned, more than 20% of the electricity requirements at Kohinoor Mills’ manufacturing facility are being met through its solar photovoltaic system.
Focus on Lower Energy Costs
The expanded solar energy infrastructure is expected to help Kohinoor Mills reduce its electricity costs per unit and manage energy expenses more effectively. By generating a larger share of its electricity through solar power, the company can also reduce its exposure to fluctuations in government-related grid electricity tariffs.
Energy costs are an important consideration for manufacturing businesses, particularly those operating in energy-intensive industries. Increasing the use of solar power can help companies manage operating expenses while improving the predictability of their energy supply costs.
Supporting Pakistan’s Renewable Energy Goals
Beyond its potential financial benefits, the solar expansion supports broader national objectives by reducing dependence on imported fuels and helping lower associated carbon emissions.
Renewable energy investments are becoming increasingly important for businesses seeking to improve energy efficiency and reduce their environmental footprint. Kohinoor Mills’ latest development reflects the growing role of solar power in supporting industrial energy requirements in Pakistan.
A Step Toward Sustainable Operations
With a total solar generation capacity of 10.2 MW, Kohinoor Mills has strengthened its renewable energy infrastructure at its manufacturing facility. The company expects the expanded system to contribute to lower energy costs and reduced exposure to grid tariff volatility.
The announcement builds on the company’s earlier disclosure dated December 10, 2025, regarding its renewable energy development.
The completion of the additional 3.0 MW system highlights Kohinoor Mills’ continued investment in solar energy as part of its approach to operational efficiency and more sustainable manufacturing.
