Macter International Limited (PSX: MACTER) has reported higher revenue but lower profitability for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as increased selling and distribution expenses and finance costs weighed on its earnings. The pharmaceutical company announced its unaudited financial results following a Board of Directors meeting held on October 22, 2026, in Karachi.
Revenue Growth Fails to Translate Into Higher Earnings
According to the company’s financial statements, Macter International’s consolidated revenue increased to Rs3.20 billion in the quarter under review, compared with Rs2.86 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This represents year-on-year growth of approximately 11.7%.
Consolidated gross profit also improved to Rs1.47 billion from Rs1.29 billion, reflecting growth in revenue and gross profit in absolute terms. However, higher operating expenses reduced the benefit of this improvement.
Selling and distribution expenses increased to Rs1.06 billion from Rs825.14 million a year earlier. Administrative expenses also rose to Rs192.21 million from Rs175.52 million. Meanwhile, finance costs climbed to Rs54.06 million compared with Rs33.78 million in the same period last year.
These cost increases contributed to a decline in operating profit, which fell to Rs213.48 million from Rs275.84 million.
Net Profit Declines by Around 34%
Macter International’s consolidated profit after taxation stood at Rs95.92 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs145.29 million in the corresponding period of 2025. This represents a decline of approximately 34%.
Earnings per share (EPS) decreased to Rs2.10 from Rs3.22, reflecting the lower profit reported during the quarter.
Profit before tax also declined to Rs159.42 million from Rs242.06 million, while the company’s income tax expense fell to Rs63.50 million from Rs96.77 million.
The results indicate that although the company continued to expand its revenue, rising operating costs and financing expenses put pressure on its bottom line.
Unconsolidated Results Show a Similar Trend
The company’s standalone financial results also reflected revenue growth alongside weaker profitability.
Unconsolidated revenue increased to Rs3.09 billion from Rs2.77 billion in the same quarter last year. Gross profit rose to Rs1.41 billion from Rs1.24 billion.
However, standalone operating profit declined to Rs208.49 million from Rs281.27 million, while profit after taxation fell to Rs99.10 million from Rs156.22 million. Earnings per share decreased to Rs2.16 from Rs3.41.
The similar trends in both consolidated and standalone results highlight the impact of higher expenses on the company’s quarterly earnings.
No Dividend or Bonus Shares Announced
The Board of Directors did not recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares, or right shares for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company also reported no other entitlement, corporate action, or price-sensitive information in its announcement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The company stated that its quarterly report for the period would be submitted separately through the Pakistan Unified Corporate Action Reporting System (PUCARS) within the specified timeframe.
Cash Flow and Financial Position
Macter International’s consolidated cash flow statement showed that net cash used in operating activities amounted to Rs54.67 million during the quarter, compared with net cash generated of Rs213.75 million in the corresponding period last year.
The company reported consolidated cash and bank balances of Rs103.39 million at September 30, 2026, down from Rs109.79 million at June 30, 2026. Total consolidated assets stood at Rs7.82 billion, compared with Rs7.94 billion at the end of the previous financial year.
The company also obtained net short-term financing during the quarter, contributing to positive cash flow from financing activities. These figures highlight the importance of monitoring working capital, operating cash generation, and financing costs alongside revenue and profit growth.
Outlook for Investors
Macter International’s latest quarterly results present a mixed picture for investors. Revenue and gross profit recorded healthy growth, but lower operating profit, reduced net earnings, and weaker operating cash flow remain important areas to watch.
Going forward, investors may focus on the company’s ability to manage selling and distribution expenses, control financing costs, and convert revenue growth into stronger profitability and cash generation.
The absence of a dividend announcement also means shareholders should not expect a cash payout or bonus shares based on this quarterly announcement.
Overall, Macter International maintained revenue growth in the first quarter of FY2027, but its earnings performance weakened compared with the same period last year. The company’s future results will help determine whether it can improve cost efficiency and restore profit growth in the coming quarters.
