Ghani Global Glass Limited (GGGL) reported a significant increase in profitability for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026, despite a decline in sales compared with the corresponding period last year. The company’s latest financial results show improved gross profit and operating profit, reflecting a stronger performance at the operating level.

Gross Profit Rises as Sales Decline

According to the company’s financial statements, net sales declined to Rs568.19 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, compared with Rs785.13 million in the same period last year. This represents a decrease of approximately 27.6%.

Despite the decline in revenue, gross profit increased to Rs177.28 million from Rs142.83 million a year earlier, marking an improvement of around 24.1%. Consequently, the gross profit margin rose to approximately 31.2%, compared with 18.2% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

This improvement indicates that the company generated a higher gross profit relative to its net sales, even as overall revenue declined.

Operating Profit Records Growth

Ghani Global Glass also reported an increase in profit from operations, which reached Rs131.43 million during the quarter, compared with Rs123.45 million in the same period last year. This represents growth of approximately 6.5%.

However, the company faced higher operating expenses. Administrative expenses increased to Rs35.97 million from Rs25.44 million, while selling and distribution expenses rose to Rs8.38 million from Rs4.95 million. Other operating expenses also increased to Rs4.51 million from Rs2.13 million.

Other income declined to Rs3.01 million from Rs13.14 million, partially offsetting the improvement in operating performance.

Finance Costs and Profitability

Finance costs increased to Rs93.36 million during the quarter, compared with Rs83.92 million in the corresponding period last year. The higher financing burden remained a significant expense for the company.

Profit before levy and taxation stood at Rs38.07 million, slightly below the Rs39.52 million reported in the same quarter last year. After accounting for the levy and final taxation, profit before income tax was Rs30.97 million, compared with Rs36.40 million a year earlier.

Nevertheless, profit after taxation increased to Rs30.97 million from Rs24.37 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, representing growth of approximately 27%.

Earnings per share also improved to Rs0.13 from Rs0.10.

Financial Position and Cash Flows

The company’s total assets increased slightly to Rs7.30 billion as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs7.26 billion at June 30, 2026. Total equity rose to approximately Rs4.35 billion from Rs3.85 billion over the same period.

However, the balance sheet also reflects a substantial short-term borrowing balance of approximately Rs1.33 billion, compared with Rs910 million at the end of June 2026. Cash and bank balances declined to Rs63.46 million from Rs135.82 million.

Cash flow figures indicate that net cash used in operating activities amounted to Rs148.18 million during the quarter, compared with Rs189.49 million in the corresponding period last year. Net cash used in investing activities stood at Rs26.04 million.

Financing activities generated net cash of Rs101.85 million, compared with Rs120.29 million in the same period last year. Overall, cash and cash equivalents decreased by Rs72.36 million during the quarter.

These figures highlight the importance of managing working capital, borrowing requirements and cash flows alongside improvements in reported profitability.

No Dividend Announced

In its notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange dated October 26, 2026, Ghani Global Glass Limited stated that its board of directors had reviewed the financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

The company announced no cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares or other corporate entitlement in connection with the reported results.

Outlook

Ghani Global Glass Limited’s first-quarter results present a mixed financial picture. While net sales declined considerably, the company recorded higher gross profit, improved operating profit and a stronger after-tax profit.

The increase in earnings per share is also a positive development. However, higher finance costs, increased operating expenses, lower cash balances and greater short-term borrowings remain important factors to monitor.

Going forward, the company’s ability to sustain its improved margins, strengthen revenue generation and manage its financing burden will be important in determining whether the improvement in profitability can continue through the remainder of the financial year.
