Ghani Global Holdings Limited (GGL) has reported a decline in consolidated profit after taxation for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026, despite recording growth in sales and gross profit.
According to the company’s financial results submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on October 28, 2026, consolidated profit after taxation fell to Rs381.1 million during the quarter, compared with Rs542.4 million in the same period last year, representing a decline of approximately 29.7%.
The company’s net sales increased to Rs2.86 billion from Rs2.61 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, reflecting growth of around 9.5%. Gross profit also improved to Rs1.33 billion from Rs1.05 billion, while gross profit margin increased to approximately 46.5% from 40.3%.
Profit from operations rose to Rs972.4 million, compared with Rs803.9 million a year earlier, indicating improved operating performance. However, higher finance costs, minimum tax levies and taxation reduced the company’s final earnings.
Finance costs increased significantly to Rs299.7 million during the quarter, compared with Rs175.8 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, profit before taxation and minimum tax levies reached Rs653.2 million, up from Rs628.1 million.
The company recorded a share of loss from an associated company amounting to Rs19.5 million during the quarter. Minimum tax levies stood at Rs79.6 million, compared with Rs15.2 million in the corresponding period last year. Taxation increased to Rs192.4 million from Rs70.5 million, contributing to the decline in after-tax earnings.
Combined earnings per share decreased to Rs0.55 from Rs0.86 in the same quarter of the previous year.
Despite lower consolidated earnings, the company’s financial position remained broadly stable. Total assets stood at Rs31.25 billion as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs31.24 billion at June 30, 2026. Total equity increased to Rs20.04 billion from Rs18.69 billion, while total liabilities declined to Rs11.20 billion from Rs12.55 billion.
The consolidated cash flow statement showed net cash generated from operating activities of Rs374.5 million, compared with Rs116.7 million in the corresponding period last year. However, cash and cash equivalents declined to Rs780.2 million at the end of the quarter from Rs1.43 billion at the beginning of the period.
On a standalone basis, Ghani Global Holdings recorded profit after taxation of Rs3.21 million for the quarter, down from Rs7.35 million a year earlier. Standalone net sales increased to Rs18.89 million from Rs14.23 million, while earnings per share declined to Rs0.009 from Rs0.021.
The company’s board of directors did not announce any cash dividend, bonus shares, rights shares or other corporate action for the quarter.
Overall, Ghani Global Holdings’ first-quarter results reflect stronger sales and operating profitability but lower bottom-line earnings, mainly due to higher financing and tax expenses. Investors will be watching whether the company can sustain its revenue growth while managing these costs in the coming quarters.
