Cnergyico Pakistan Limited (CNERGYICO) has reported a significant financial turnaround for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026–27, posting a consolidated after-tax profit of Rs12.64 billion for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with a loss of Rs792.7 million in the same period last year.
According to the company’s unaudited financial results approved by its Board of Directors on October 27, 2026, the strong recovery was accompanied by substantial growth in revenue, gross profit and operating earnings.
Revenue More Than Doubles
Cnergyico’s consolidated net revenue increased to Rs145.19 billion in the July–September quarter, compared with Rs61.61 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. This represents an increase of approximately 135.7%, highlighting a substantial expansion in reported sales.
Gross profit rose to Rs22.13 billion from Rs724.64 million a year earlier. The improvement reflects a stronger difference between net revenue and the cost of sales during the reporting period.
The company’s cost of sales increased to Rs123.06 billion from Rs60.89 billion in the same quarter last year. However, revenue growth significantly outpaced the increase in costs, supporting a marked improvement in gross profitability.
Operating Profit Records Strong Growth
Cnergyico’s consolidated operating profit reached Rs21.47 billion in the first quarter, compared with just Rs123.11 million in the corresponding period last year.
Administrative expenses stood at Rs537.95 million, while selling and distribution expenses amounted to Rs190.15 million. Other income contributed Rs71.04 million during the quarter.
Finance costs increased moderately to Rs877.24 million from Rs836.12 million a year earlier. Despite these financing expenses, the company recorded a consolidated profit before taxation of Rs20.59 billion, reversing a pre-tax loss of Rs713.01 million in the same period of the previous year.
Earnings Per Share Turn Positive
The company’s improved financial performance was also reflected in its earnings per share (EPS). Consolidated basic and diluted EPS reached Rs2.30 for the quarter, compared with a loss per share of Rs0.14 in the corresponding period last year.
At the standalone level, Cnergyico reported an after-tax profit of Rs12.88 billion, against a loss of Rs589.47 million in the same quarter of the previous year. Standalone EPS improved to Rs2.34 from a loss per share of Rs0.11.
These results indicate a substantial improvement in profitability across both the company’s standalone and consolidated financial statements.
Asset Base Expands
Cnergyico’s consolidated total assets increased to Rs479.98 billion as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs422.68 billion at June 30, 2026.
Current assets rose to Rs157.45 billion from Rs99.97 billion at the end of the previous financial year. Stock-in-trade increased to Rs109.97 billion from Rs54.33 billion, while trade debts reached Rs38.54 billion.
The increase in inventory was a major contributor to the growth in current assets. At the same time, consolidated equity and liabilities reflected higher current obligations, with trade and other payables rising to Rs143.85 billion from Rs102.86 billion at the end of June.
These balance-sheet movements will remain important indicators for investors assessing the company’s working capital requirements and financial position.
Operating Cash Flow Remains Positive
Despite the strong improvement in accounting profits, consolidated net cash generated from operating activities declined to Rs3.09 billion in the first quarter, compared with Rs5.24 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The cash flow statement showed that working capital movements included a significant increase in inventory and a rise in trade and other payables. These changes affected the conversion of operating earnings into cash.
The company also reported net cash used in investing activities of approximately Rs1.83 billion, primarily associated with the acquisition of property, plant, equipment and intangible assets. Financing activities resulted in a net cash outflow of around Rs1.41 billion, including repayments of long-term financing, lease liabilities and short-term borrowings.
The difference between reported profitability and operating cash generation highlights the importance of monitoring working capital and cash flow alongside earnings.
Outlook for Investors
Cnergyico’s first-quarter results mark a substantial recovery from the losses reported in the corresponding period last year. Strong growth in revenue, a significant increase in gross profit and the return to positive earnings per share represent the key developments in its latest financial performance.
However, investors will also need to consider inventory levels, trade payables, tax expenses and operating cash flow when evaluating whether the improvement can be sustained over subsequent quarters.
The latest financial statements are unaudited, and the company’s performance over the remainder of the fiscal year will provide a clearer picture of the durability of its earnings recovery.
Overall, Cnergyico’s first-quarter results present a positive change in reported profitability, while cash flow and working capital management remain important areas to watch.
