Allied Bank Limited (ABL) has reported a strong improvement in profitability for the half year ended June 30, 2026, with consolidated profit after taxation more than doubling compared with the same period last year.

According to the financial results submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Allied Bank recorded consolidated profit after taxation of Rs. 15.97 billion during the first half of 2026, compared with Rs. 7.67 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. This represents an increase of more than 108% year-on-year, highlighting a significant improvement in the bank’s earnings performance.

The bank’s profit before taxation also increased substantially, reaching Rs. 32.47 billion compared with Rs. 16.20 billion a year earlier. The result reflects stronger overall income generation despite continued expenses and credit-related charges during the period.

Stronger Core Banking Income

Allied Bank’s consolidated net mark-up/interest income stood at Rs. 53.16 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Non-mark-up income also contributed meaningfully to the bank’s overall revenue, with fee and commission income, dividend income, foreign exchange income and other income forming part of the bank’s diversified earnings base.

The bank reported total non-mark-up/interest income of approximately Rs. 16.78 billion, supporting total income of nearly Rs. 69.91 billion for the half year.

Dividend Announcement

Alongside the results, Allied Bank’s Board of Directors recommended an interim cash dividend of Rs. 4 per share, equivalent to 40%, for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The announcement follows an earlier interim dividend of Rs. 4 per share already paid, bringing the total interim dividend announced for the period to Rs. 8 per share.

The bank stated that the recommended entitlement will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members on August 28, 2026. The share transfer books will remain closed from August 31 to September 2, 2026, both days inclusive.

Earnings Per Share

Despite the sharp increase in overall profit, consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs. 13.95, compared with Rs. 15.71 in the same period of 2025. The movement in EPS reflects changes in the bank’s equity and earnings structure during the reporting period.

Balance Sheet Remains Strong

The consolidated financial position also shows the scale of Allied Bank’s operations. As of June 30, 2026, the bank reported total assets of approximately Rs. 3.74 trillion, while deposits and other accounts stood at around Rs. 2.62 trillion. Net assets were reported at approximately Rs. 263.66 billion.

The results indicate a strong first-half performance for Allied Bank, supported by higher profitability and a continued focus on core banking income. The sizeable dividend announcement also underlines the bank’s continued emphasis on shareholder returns.

Overall, Allied Bank’s first-half 2026 results present a considerably stronger earnings picture than the previous year, with profit after tax more than doubling and the bank maintaining its dividend distribution to shareholders.
