Attock Cement Moves Ahead With Battery Storage and Solar Power Initiative

Karachi, September 30, 2026: Attock Cement Pakistan Limited has announced a new energy initiative aimed at reducing its dependence on peak-grid electricity and making greater use of renewable energy at its plant.

According to a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company’s Board of Directors has approved, through a resolution by circulation, the installation of a 20 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) along with a dedicated 5 MW solar power setup at the company’s plant.

The project is designed to support the company’s energy management by reducing reliance on electricity supplied from the grid during peak periods. Battery storage can allow electricity generated or available at other times to be stored and utilized when demand and grid-related costs are higher.

The planned 5 MW solar power installation will also add renewable generation capacity to the company’s existing energy resources. Combined with the battery storage system, the initiative is intended to improve the utilization of renewable energy and support more efficient power consumption at the plant.

Attock Cement said the project is intended to reduce reliance on peak-grid electricity, optimize energy costs and enhance the company’s renewable energy capacity.

The announcement reflects the cement sector’s continuing focus on energy efficiency, as electricity represents an important component of industrial operating costs. By combining solar generation with battery storage, the company plans to create greater flexibility in how electricity is generated, stored and consumed.

The disclosure was issued by Attock Cement Pakistan Limited on September 30, 2026, and addressed to the General Manager of the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The company also requested that the exchange inform its members about the development.
