Karachi, August 20, 2026: Bank AL Habib Limited has announced its financial results for the half year ended June 30, 2026, reporting a decline in profitability compared with the same period last year, while maintaining a cash dividend for shareholders.
According to the bank’s announcement submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the board approved an interim cash dividend of Rs. 3.50 per share, equivalent to 35%, in addition to the Rs. 3.50 per share interim dividend already paid. No bonus shares, right shares or other corporate action were announced.
Profit declines during the first half
On a standalone basis, Bank AL Habib posted profit after taxation of Rs. 15.09 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs. 19.32 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. This represents a decline of around 22%.
The bank’s profit before taxation stood at Rs. 31.43 billion, down from Rs. 39.08 billion a year earlier. Basic and diluted earnings per share declined to Rs. 13.58, compared with Rs. 17.39 in the first half of 2025. The figures are reported in the bank’s unaudited interim financial statements.
Consolidated earnings also lower
The consolidated results showed a similar trend. Bank AL Habib’s consolidated profit after taxation came in at Rs. 15.41 billion, compared with Rs. 19.79 billion in the same period last year.
Profit attributable to shareholders of the holding company amounted to Rs. 15.40 billion, while earnings per share attributable to shareholders stood at Rs. 13.85, compared with Rs. 17.80 a year earlier.
Income remains substantial
Despite the decline in bottom-line earnings, the bank continued to generate strong income during the period. Standalone total income reached Rs. 83.64 billion, compared with Rs. 81.68 billion in the first half of 2025.
Net mark-up/interest income stood at approximately Rs. 64.96 billion, while non-mark-up/interest income increased to around Rs. 18.68 billion from Rs. 15.34 billion a year earlier. However, non-mark-up/interest expenses also increased, reaching approximately Rs. 52.19 billion during the six-month period.
Dividend supports shareholder returns
The board’s decision to declare another Rs. 3.50 per share interim cash dividend provides continued income support for shareholders despite the decline in earnings.
The bank also announced that its share transfer book will remain closed from September 1 to September 3, 2026, both days inclusive, for the purpose of determining entitlement to the announced dividend.
Overall, Bank AL Habib’s first-half results reflect pressure on profitability compared with the previous year, but the bank continues to maintain a significant earnings base and shareholder distributions. The full half-year report is expected to be transmitted separately through the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s PUCARS system.
