The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO) has announced a significant development in Pakistan’s domestic energy sector, with its joint venture, Prime International Oil and Gas Company Limited (Prime), successfully commissioning the Lundali-1 well in the Sukkur-II concession.
According to a disclosure dated September 9, 2026, Prime achieved first gas from the Lundali-1 well on September 6, 2026. The well is currently producing 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas at a wellhead pressure of 2,000 psi. The gas is being supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
Prime Global Leads Sukkur-II Development
The Lundali-1 well is located in the Sukkur-II Concession, where Prime Global Energies Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Prime, serves as the operator. The project’s joint venture partners include Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Mari Energies Limited (MEL), and Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company Limited (TPOC).
The Sukkur-II Block, identified as Block 2568-23, became subject to a Petroleum Concession Agreement and Exploration Licence on December 2, 2025. Following the award of the licence, the joint venture accelerated its exploration and development activities, eventually leading to the successful commissioning of Lundali-1.
Boost to Indigenous Gas Supply
The commissioning of the well represents another step toward increasing the development of Pakistan’s indigenous hydrocarbon resources. With an initial flow of 10 MMscfd, the well is expected to contribute to the country’s domestic gas supply through its deliveries to SSGC.
For HUBCO, the development also highlights the group’s expanding involvement in Pakistan’s energy value chain beyond conventional power generation. The company said the milestone reflects its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s energy security through the development of indigenous hydrocarbon resources.
A Positive Development for the Energy Sector
The successful commissioning of Lundali-1 comes less than a year after the Sukkur-II Petroleum Concession Agreement and Exploration Licence became effective. The rapid progress from the award of the licence to first gas demonstrates the joint venture’s focus on accelerating exploration and production activities.
The development could prove important for Pakistan as the country continues to seek greater reliance on locally produced energy resources. Domestic gas production can help strengthen supply availability while supporting the broader energy infrastructure.
HUBCO has requested dissemination of the information to members of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, making the development relevant for investors and market participants following the company’s energy and exploration-related activities.
