Engro Fertilizers Reports Higher First-Quarter Profit, Declares 20% Interim Dividend
Engro Fertilizers Limited has announced its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2026, along with an interim cash dividend of Rs. 2 per share, equivalent to 20%. The company’s Board of Directors approved the unaudited results at its meeting held on April 20, 2026, in Karachi.
The dividend announcement is likely to attract attention from shareholders, particularly as the company continues to maintain cash returns alongside its quarterly financial performance. Shareholders whose names appear in the company’s register on May 4, 2026 will be entitled to receive the dividend.
Standalone Profit Shows Improvement
According to the financial statements, Engro Fertilizers recorded a profit for the period of approximately Rs. 3.32 billion during the quarter, compared with around Rs. 2.90 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. This represents an increase of roughly 14.5% year-on-year.
The company’s earnings per share (EPS) also improved, rising to Rs. 2.49 from Rs. 2.17 a year earlier. The figures indicate stronger profitability at the standalone company level during the quarter. The financial statement on page 5 shows the reported profit and EPS figures.
Consolidated Performance Presents a Different Picture
The consolidated financial statements provide a more mixed picture. Engro Fertilizers reported consolidated profit of approximately Rs. 2.89 billion for the quarter, compared with Rs. 3.93 billion in the same period last year. Consolidated EPS declined to Rs. 2.17 from Rs. 2.94.
This means that while the parent company’s standalone earnings improved, the overall consolidated result was affected by weaker performance at the group level. The consolidated income statement on page 11 reflects the lower profit and EPS compared with the previous year.
No Bonus or Right Shares
Alongside the dividend, the company confirmed that there would be no bonus shares, right shares, or other entitlement/corporate action associated with the announcement.
The company also stated that its quarterly report for the period ended March 31, 2026 would be transmitted through PUCARS and made available on its website.
Book Closure Dates Announced
Engro Fertilizers said its Share Transfer Books will remain closed from May 5 to May 6, 2026, both days inclusive. Transfers received by the company’s share registrar by 5:00 p.m. on May 4 will be considered in time for dividend payment purposes.
Overall, the first-quarter announcement presents a positive picture for Engro Fertilizers at the standalone level, with improved profit and EPS, while consolidated earnings declined compared with the previous year. The Rs. 2 per share interim dividend nevertheless highlights the company’s continued commitment to shareholder distributions.
