MCB Bank Limited has reported a profit after tax of Rs12.8 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, while announcing an interim cash dividend of Rs9 per share.

According to the bank’s financial results, MCB Bank’s standalone profit after tax stood at Rs12.801 billion in the first quarter of 2026, compared with Rs13.812 billion in the same period last year. This represents a decline of around 7.3% year-on-year. Earnings per share also decreased to Rs10.80, from Rs11.65 a year earlier.

The bank’s net mark-up/interest income increased to Rs38.232 billion during the quarter, compared with Rs35.184 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. However, total non-mark-up/interest income declined to Rs8.489 billion from Rs9.208 billion, limiting the overall growth in total income.

MCB recorded total income of Rs46.721 billion, up from Rs44.392 billion a year earlier. At the same time, non-mark-up/interest expenses increased to Rs19.099 billion from Rs17.633 billion. Profit before taxation stood at Rs26.734 billion, compared with Rs29.303 billion in the first quarter of 2025.

Consolidated Performance

On a consolidated basis, MCB Bank and its subsidiaries posted profit after taxation of Rs13.142 billion, compared with Rs14.723 billion in the same quarter last year. After accounting for non-controlling interest, profit attributable to the bank’s equity shareholders came in at Rs13.113 billion, down from Rs14.652 billion. Consolidated earnings per share declined to Rs11.07, compared with Rs12.36 in the prior-year period.

The consolidated financial position remained substantial, with total assets reaching approximately Rs3.618 trillion at March 31, 2026, compared with Rs3.579 trillion at the end of December 2025. Deposits and other accounts stood at around Rs2.589 trillion, while advances amounted to approximately Rs888.7 billion.

Rs9 Per Share Interim Dividend

Alongside the financial results, MCB Bank announced its first interim cash dividend of Rs9 per share, equivalent to 90%, for the quarter ended March 31, 2026. The bank did not announce any bonus shares, right shares or other corporate action.

The dividend will be paid to shareholders whose names appear on the bank’s register as of the relevant entitlement date. The share transfer books are scheduled to remain closed from May 6 to May 8, 2026, according to the company’s filing.

Strong Balance Sheet Despite Profit Decline

The first-quarter results show that MCB continued to maintain a sizeable balance sheet and strong deposit base, even as quarterly profitability came under pressure. The increase in net mark-up income provided support to earnings, while higher operating expenses, taxation and changes in other income components affected the bottom line.

For investors, the Rs9 per share interim dividend remains a notable feature of the announcement, while the year-on-year decline in both standalone and consolidated earnings will likely remain an important area of focus in assessing the bank’s performance during the rest of 2026.
